The question of under-schooling of children, in particular girls in Africa is the object of a particular attention for a few years. It appears that the familial, economic, demographic reasons of that under-schooling are not always well studied because of the lack of adequate empirical data. The objective pursued through this work is to find with the help of recent surveys, the socio-economic determinants of girls’ schooling so as to find the strategies for the improvement of the rate of girls’ schooling. The objective is to look for; with the help of the results, the variables which play a crucial role in parents’ decision to send their daughters to school and to maintain them there. This study mainly lean on the exploitation of the data related to recent surveys realized in May 2012 in 120 households in the Commune of Parakou. By using a model of binary logistic regression of logit type, we have shown that the level of the household income (economic factor), the type of activity, the parents’ educational level (cultural factor) and the parents’ status (social factor) are the crucial factors which determine girls’ schooling. These results can be used for the improvement of social policies especially in the domain of women’s education in general but also to provide paths which will be used for futures researches and thus contribute if possible to the search of strategies for the improvement of the rate of girls’ schooling.
